Questions
Common questions
What is an eSIM and how is it different from a physical SIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you scan a QR code and the eSIM installs directly onto your device. Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM, including all iPhones from XS and newer.
Do I need to install the eSIM before traveling?
Yes — install before you fly, while you’re still on home Wi-Fi. Installing doesn’t start your plan: the validity countdown only begins when your phone first connects to a local network in Middle East.
Does this eSIM include calls or SMS?
No — this is a data-only eSIM. Use internet calls and messaging (WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage), or keep your home SIM active alongside for calls and texts.
What’s your refund policy?
If your eSIM hasn’t been activated yet, we’ll refund you in full. Once activated and used on a network, refunds aren’t possible. Read our full refund policy.
Best uses for a Middle East eSIM
- Maps and navigation. Step-by-step directions in unfamiliar cities, restaurant search, public transit routing.
- Messaging and calls. WhatsApp, iMessage, Signal, Telegram — all work the same as at home.
- Translation apps. Real-time translation when ordering food or asking for directions.
- Rideshare and bookings. Local Uber/Bolt/taxi apps, last-minute hotel and flight changes.
- Sharing the trip. Posting photos, video calls home, livestreaming.
Travel tips for Middle East
- Install before you fly. Set up the eSIM while you’re still on home Wi-Fi — you’ll be online the moment you land.
- Save your home line for calls. Use the eSIM for data only and keep your regular SIM for calls and SMS from your bank.
- Turn off “Roaming” on your home line. Prevents accidental charges from background apps using cellular data.
- Keep airline mode off. The eSIM activates only when it sees a local network — if your phone is in airplane mode, nothing happens.
- Top up if you need more. Out of data? Buy another plan and stack it — previous plan ends, new one starts.
